Why We Replaced Agile-barring CA Endevor with Innovation-enabling BMC Compuware ISPW

For decades, few source code management (SCM) tools have wielded as much influence over mainframe development as CA Endevor. Even BMC Compuware, a CA-competing software vendor, used Endevor for over 15 years. It was the de facto industry standard.

However, in 2014, BMC Compuware’s priority mission became transforming into an Agile mainframe software company focused on the rapid development and delivery of powerful, modern tools that empower customers to bring their mainframes into the realms of Agile development and cross-platform enterprise DevOps.

BMC Compuware CEO Chris O’Malley and others realized SCM would be the crux of BMC Compuware’s transformation success, either enabling or hindering agility. Developers needed a tool that provided a template-based approach and was loaded with automation for continuous integration/continuous delivery, reducing the amount of hardcoding developers performed and allowing them to be adaptable and efficient using parallel development, earlier integration points, real-time generates, continuous builds, and other Agile/DevOps processes.

That tool was BMC Compuware ISPW, an Agile SCM, release automation, and deployment automation tool.
