Dow Jones has many different brands operating underneath it. With different brands serving different functions, it is important to maintain differentiation between them, while being able to discern data from different sources. As of 2016, Dow Jones had over 50% of its infrastructure running in the public cloud, yet there was still 5 PB of data on-premises. It was still paying for offsite storage, and SLAs for the data in off-site data centers were too slow.
